How to choose a memory supplement in 2026

The cognitive supplement aisle is crowded, loosely regulated, and full of formulas that look identical until you read the label carefully. This is the checklist we use, applied honestly to Marobrain as well as to everything else.

The short answer

A memory supplement is worth your money if it names its actives, publishes at least the blend total, declares any stimulant content, is made in a facility you can point to, is tested by a laboratory that is named rather than implied, and comes with a refund window long enough to actually assess it. Anything that fails three of those six is a marketing exercise.

The six checks, in order

1. Are the actives named and weighted?

Full itemisation is the gold standard. A published blend total is acceptable. No weights at all is not. Marobrain sits in the middle band: vitamin B6 at 8.5 mg and vitamin B12 at 24 mcg are itemised, and the seven botanicals share a published 151 mg blend total without a split. That is a real limitation and it is the reason label transparency is the lowest-scoring criterion on the Marobrain reviews page.

2. Is the stimulant content declared?

This is where most formulas fail badly. Plenty of nootropics contain caffeine and describe it as a proprietary energy matrix. If a product makes you feel alert within 40 minutes, it contains a stimulant. Marobrain names caffeine from green coffee bean, theobromine and theacrine on the label, so at least you can plan your day around it.

3. Can you name the facility?

Country of manufacture is the minimum. A city is better. Marobrain is produced in Aurora, Colorado in a cGMP registered facility. A brand that will not say where its product is made has made a decision about how much you are allowed to know.

4. Is the testing laboratory named?

Third-party tested is a phrase, not a fact. Ask which laboratory, under which accreditation, and whether the certificate has an identifier. The Marobrain verification page publishes the laboratory name, the ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation, the certificate number and the lot it covers.

5. How long is the refund window?

Match it against how long the formula needs. A Bacopa-led product with a 14-day guarantee is a contradiction, because the ingredient is studied over weeks. Marobrain runs 60 days with opened bottles accepted, which is long enough to finish two bottles and decide.

6. Where is it sold?

Both models can be legitimate. Retail distribution gives you price competition. Single-channel distribution gives you lot traceability and a refund desk that cannot blame a reseller. What should worry you is a product that claims single-channel distribution and then appears on three marketplaces, because that means somebody in the chain is not who they say they are.

Claims that should make you close the tab

  • Any reference to reversing, treating or preventing dementia or Alzheimer's disease.
  • Doctor recommended without a named doctor, or clinically proven without a named study.
  • A countdown timer and a stock counter on the same page.
  • A guarantee that requires unopened bottles, which means the seller does not expect you to try it.
  • Exact milligram figures for ingredients inside a blend the manufacturer has not itemised. Somebody made those up.

Applying the checklist to Marobrain

Marobrain passes five of the six checks cleanly: stimulant content declared, facility named, laboratory and certificate published, 60-day refund window with opened bottles accepted, and a single documented distribution channel. It passes the first check partially, because the 151 mg blend is not split by ingredient. If full itemisation is your absolute requirement, that is a fair reason to look elsewhere, and saying so here costs us nothing worth keeping.

Key points

  • Named actives, declared stimulants, a named facility, a named laboratory, a long refund window and a channel you can verify. Six checks, in that order.
  • Match the guarantee length to how long the lead ingredient needs.
  • Nobody can tell you how much Bacopa is inside an unsplit blend. Treat any published figure as invented.
